ITF backs call for talks over pay equality on London’s buses

NACHRICHTEN Presseerklärung

Unite has postponed bus strikes planned for today and Monday in a bid to facilitate talks over equality in pay for drivers across London.

Unite is also seeking reassurance over the neutrality of Transport for London (TfL) when dealing with the dispute.

ITF general secretary Steve Cotton said: “TfL needs to actively demonstrate that it won’t interfere in or block talks aimed at bringing this dispute to an end-they have a responsibility to the travelling public and all Unite is asking them to do is live up to that.

“The union wants open, honest talks in the form of sector bargaining. Bus operators are making out that that is unusual when actually it’s the norm and most of them are engaged in it across Europe.

“We back Unite whole heartedly and we will continue to do so until bus drivers have equal pay across the UK capital.”
