Strategy

The ITF Congress held in Singapore in October 2018 agreed a plan to build transport workers’ power, across all our sections, regions and departments.

 On automation and technological change inside and outside the workplace, Congress recognised that there will be different solutions for different sectors and regions, and that women and youth will be disproportionately impacted. The ambitious and practical work programme to tackle these issues and govern the ITF’s work, is to:

  • Grow and activate membership and members' involvement in work and trade unionism, led by women and young transport workers;
  • Lead and support innovative campaigns that win real victories for workers in multinational companies, supply chains and modes of transport;
  • Demand global and regional policy that makes the future of work, transport and the global economy fair and sustainable.

We’re calling these our three strategic directions, and they shape everything we do.
