The Japanese-American (Nisei) and the Japanese
aliens (Issei) on the West Coast were rounded up and moved to
meeting centers and then to relocation centers.
The relocation itself was ordered by the then President
of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and by an act of Congress.
