Ver.di delegates also met with the German consulate in Turkey and the Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce during their stay. The union, along with TÜMTIS chairman Kenan Ozturk, held a press conference to discuss their visit and the importance of international solidarity.

Detlev Borowsky of ver.di pledged the ongoing support of the German union for its Turkish counterparts. “We agree with what ITIF and TÜMTIS have been saying”, he said. “We have here confirmed what they were saying to us in Germany”.

Ozturk commented that solidarity between friendly unions both home and abroad had helped striking workers, and that he was happy about ver.di’s solidarity visit. The dispute between TÜMTIS and its employers continues.
