Sustainability

Securing our future, through sustainable transport.

The climate emergency is impacting populations across the world much earlier and harder than expected. Scientists tell us we can’t afford any more delays in action. Transport workers are amongst the most exposed to the escalating harms, while transport sector emissions continue to rise globally. For the world to tackle the climate crisis, we must move from words to action.

OUR POSITION

While transport’s fossil fuel dependence is a major challenge today, the zero carbon transport industries of the future are a key part of the solution. Transport workers globally are calling on governments and industry to raise ambitions, ramp up investment in sustainable transport, and to deliver the plans we need across all transport sectors to secure our jobs, our climate and our future.

KEY ISSUES

  • BUILDING RESILIENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS

  • INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION

HOW DOES THE TRANSPORT INDUSTRY LEAD A JUST TRANSITION?
DRIVING A SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT FUTURE

Transport workers have an integral role in driving a sustainable future. We know that tackling climate change and building a sustainable transport industry has many challenges. That’s why we’re calling for industrial transformation - to build resilient transport systems across every transport sector.

80% of people globally want increased investment in sustainable transport.
FIGHTING FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE

Equality and democracy are at the core of our response to the climate crisis. We're fighting for climate justice and a worker-led just transition.
