At the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), we have a proud history of standing against injustice and violence and promoting rights, democracy, equality and peace.
We stand in solidarity with Palestine and have worked alongside Palestinian trade unions for many years, supporting them in their struggle for justice, dignity and peace.
Today, our union siblings in Palestine are calling for international support and solidarity now more than ever before.
The situation in Palestine is dire. Israel’s indiscriminate military bombardment has killed thousands of innocent lives in Gaza and displaced millions more. The continued siege is denying Gazans’ access to essential services including fuel, water and electricity and lifesaving food and medical supplies. In the West Bank, Palestinians are facing escalating violence and restrictions, resulting in hundreds of deaths and making it near impossible for trade unions to support their members.
Over 30 UN Special Rapporteurs have warned of a risk of genocide of Palestinians.
While the ITF is part of the vast majority of the international community calling for a ceasefire and a sustainable long-term peace (see ITF statement), we have also established a fund to support the immediate needs of transport workers, their families and their unions in Palestine.
Express your solidarity and support trade unionists in Palestine by donating today.
In close cooperation with the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU), the Palestine Solidarity Fund will be used to work with transport unions across the region to deliver lifesaving essential supplies for our Palestinian siblings in Gaza through internationally recognised humanitarian organisations. Transport unions in Egypt have committed to delivering as many trucks as we can fill with lifesaving essential supplies.
The ITF will also work with the International Labour Organization (ILO) by supporting its urgent funding appeal to implement a three-phase programme focused on immediate relief, longer-term recovery and social protection for Palestinian workers.
Your donations will support these efforts.
