“Right now our thoughts are with his family and friends, but I know there is nothing I can say to relieve the tragedy that has befallen them.
“The ITF, and the global union movement we represent, stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Teamsters and the AFL-CIO as they mourn the death of yet another young African-American man, and call for answers about what happened.”
“The union movement stands for a fairer, more equal, more tolerant society. It was founded on a struggle for social equality, and this fight had at his heart a hunger for justice founded on peace and cooperation. We must uphold these principles now, more than ever, and denounce violence in all of its forms, whoever it is visited upon.
