Maritime leaders meet to discuss global automation

WHAT: Dockers’ union representatives from across the globe will gather in Sydney, Australia for a two-day strategy conference on April 29 and 30 April to discuss automation — past, present and future. At the end of the conference (which is closed to the press) three key personnel will be available to brief media in person or by phone on global automation and the conference’s findings.

WHO: Paddy Crumlin, national secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) and president of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF); Ray Familathe, vice president mainland of the US International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), and ITF dockers’ section 2nd vice chair; Sharon James, ITF dockers’ section secretary.
